Esbati pursued Visual Arts at the University of Tehran's Faculty of Fine Arts. Later, in 1975, he was accepted into the university's Architecture program.
Esbati's professional journey began during his student years. Alongside his peers, he organized exhibitions of posters and graphic designs with revolutionary themes in the lead-up to the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
He later worked in graphic design and contributed advertising layouts for Film magazine.
His cinematic debut came with the film 'The Treasure' (1984), directed by Mohammad-Ali Sajjadi, where he designed both set and costumes.
He entered television the same year with the children's series 'Little Ali', marking the beginning of a steady stream of creative work across various media.
His costume design for the popular 1990s TV series 'In Your Shelter' was a turning point, gaining widespread attention.

He is a founding member of the Iranian Film Designers Association and the Theater Designers Association affiliated with the Iranian House of Theater. He has also served three terms on the board of the House of Cinema and was a member of the Academy of Film Judging.
Esbati holds the distinction of being the most awarded set and costume designer in the history of the Fajr International Film Festival.
He has won the Crystal Simorgh award four times for his work on 'The Sun Land', 'The May Lady', 'Duel', and 'So Close, So Far Away'.
His achievements have been recognized with multiple industry honors, including a special tribute at the festival's Beyond the Frame section in 2001.
