Representatives of over 70 filmfests attend FIFF’s market

Representatives of over 70 major filmfests attend market of the 38th Fajr Int’l Film Festival in Iran.

Representatives of more than 70 major film festivals have attended the market of the 38th Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran.

The representatives are from Antalya, Golden Apricot, Batumi, BFI London, Busan, Carthage, Chennai, Chicago, Dhaka, Dublin, and dozens of other festivals.

Broadcasting companies can introduce their films to the representatives of the festivals without paying the registration and entrance fee.

The outline of screening programs includes 59 feature and 26 short films. The first two days of the market saw the screening of more than 100 movies for more than 200 international guests, distribution companies, and festival agents.

The online platform has made it much easier for Iranian producers and filmmakers to have direct contacts with international distribution firms and festival agents.

Over a thousand sales agency meeting agreements have been reached during the film market.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the film market has become a standalone online market created to support the international film industry and help professionals.

It is being held on May 26-30, intended to mimic the market experience of the FIFF, with live and real-time meetings.

Almost 230 agents, experts and guests from local and international distribution companies are taking take part in virtual meetings as well.

The movers and shakers of the industry continue to discuss and acquire rights to films across a range of categories.

This year, the FIFF opened in Tehran on May 26 and will run until June 2.

The 2020 edition of the FIFF was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The 2021 national version of the festival was held on January 31-February 10.
