The 40th Fajr Film Festival has received the final versions of the twenty two films selected for the Main Competition Section.

The 40th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) has received the final versions of the twenty two films selected for the Main Competition Section of the event.

The secretariat of the festival received the digital cinema package of the films to vie at the Iranian Cinema Competition section (Main Competition) of the 2022 edition of the festival to take place on February 1-11.

The selection committee members of this section, who were recently announced, also include Behrouz Afkhami (writer and director), Esmaeel Baniardalan (university professor), Pouran Derakhshandeh (female filmmaker) and Hossein Zandbaf (film editor, producer and director).

The rest of the board members also include Majid Shah-Hosseini (university professor and researcher), Esfandiar Shahidi (cinematographer and filmmaker) and Mohammad-Hossein Nirumand (executive director).

The 2022 Fajr Festival has also announced the short film lineup with Ahmad-Reza Motamedi, Danesh Oqbashavi, and Hamed Jafari on the jury panel of the short film section.

Besides, the participants in the documentary section of the 40th Fajr Film Festival have newly been revealed along with the selection committee of this section.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival, which also runs in an international version, has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The FFF coincides with the ten-day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has recently been accredited by the FIAPF, a Belgium-based regulator of international film festivals.

The domestic and international editions of Iran’s Fajr film festival are set to be merged starting from 2023.

The international version of the event will be held later in 2022.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival annually hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the globe.
