Iran's ‘The Apple Day’ vying at Zlin Film Festival

The Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic is hosting Iran's ‘The Apple Day’.

The 62nd edition of the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic has been hosting Iranian feature ‘The Apple Day’.

Directed by Mahmoud Ghaffari and produced by Elaheh Nobakht, the film was premiered at the Generation Kplus section of the Berlinale 2022.

‘The Apple Day’ is about the members of an Iranian family who lovingly support each other in the face of all hardships and give room to each other to grow.

A young boy named Saeed takes apples to school and distribute them among his fellow schoolmates. Saeed’s father has a truck on which he sells apples. One day as the truck gets stolen, it gets impossible for Saeed to accomplish his mission. He must now find a way to solve the problem.

Arian Rastegar, Zhila Shahi, Mehdi Pourmousa and Khodadad Bakhshizadeh are the cast members of the flick.

According to the official website of the Zlin Film Festival, “it is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind in the world. Each year the festival presents around 300 films from more than 50 countries around the world.”

The 62nd edition of the event has been slated for May 26-June 1, 2022.

The previous edition of the Czech event presented its Golden Slipper for best feature film at the junior category to Iran’s ‘Sun Children’ by Majid Majidi.
