Directed by Emad Rahmani and Mehrdad Mehrabi, and produced by Mehdi Jafari-Jouzani, the 92-minute animation, previously titled ‘Sword and Sorrow’, is now released internationally as ‘The Boy and the Sword’.
Following the success of ‘The Legend of Sepehr’, this film is considered one of the most innovative works in Iran’s animation industry. It was developed by a team of artists and animation technology experts.
The film uses MetaHuman scanning technology for the first time in Iranian animation history.
Inspired by Iranian historical and cultural narratives, the story covers the period between the martyrdom of Imam Hassan (AS) and the arrival of Imam Hussain (AS) in Karbala.
The plot is told through the perspective of an Iranian living in the city of Ctesiphon, who eventually joins Imam Hussain’s (AS) caravan.
Aimed at teenage and young adult audiences, the film carries the tagline: “Fight for the dream you hold.”
‘The Boy and the Sword’ was also featured at the 2023 Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.
