Here’s a video of Martyr Imam Khamenei speaking about the liberation of Khorramshahr.
“After the liberation of Khorramshahr, mediators and several presidents came to Iran. Among them was Mr. Sékou Touré, a respected and influential figure in Africa. He told me, ‘Your position today is not the same as it was yesterday.' Khorramshahr has changed everything," the martyred Imam said.
He added that the liberation of Khorramshahr was not just a military victory. It was a turning point that changed the course of events and transformed how Iran was seen around the world.
One of the most memorable moments in modern Iranian history was the liberation of Khorramshahr on May 24, 1982 after some 578 days of occupation during the Iraq-Iran War in the 1980s.
The city had endured months of bombardment and destruction. But with the historic Beit ol-Moqaddas operation, Khorramshahr returned to Iran.
