Khamseh, Alireza (born January 29, 1953, Zanjan)

Alireza Khamseh is one of the most successful and popular Iranian comedians and has appeared in numerous movies and series.

In 1979, he went to France to participate in pantomime and acting classes for a year and a half.

He made his cinematic debut in 1981 by performing in ‘Death of Yazdgerd’.

His physique and facial expressions attracted the attention of comedy directors, who invited him to participate in a number of television comedy shows such as 'New Year’s Traditions' (1982) and 'Third View' (1984) in the early 1980s. 

Khamseh quickly won over audiences with his performances and has appeared in series such as 'Hoshyar and Bidar' (1986-1988), 'The Magic Lamp' (2000-2001), 'A Bunch of Eagle Feathers' (2005), 'The Man of a Thousand Faces' (2007), 'The Rich and the Poor' (2010), 'The Capital' (2010-2011), 'Special Guests' (2011), 'No. 1, Tehran' (2012), 'The Capital 2' (2012-2013), 'The Capital 3' (2013-2014), 'Michael' (2015), and 'The Capital 4' (2015).

In 1989, he starred in the blockbuster ‘The Glorious Day’ (1988) alongside some of the most famous actors of the time.

He has also acted in movies, including 'Perhaps Another Time' (1987), 'Under the City’s Rooftops' (1989), 'Pickpockets Don’t Go to Heaven' (1991), 'I Like the Earth' (1993), 'Bibi’s Dowry' (1994), 'The Loser' (1995), 'The Key to Marriage' (1997), 'Rules of the Game' (2006), 'My Child' (2008), 'The Rain Drop' (2009), 'We Are Not Home' (2009), 'Left Behind' (2009), 'Persisting Dreams' (2010), 'Hot Chocolate' (2010), 'The Wrong Story' (2012), 'Kindergarten Operation' (2012), and 'Don't Call Me A Clunker!' (2013-2014).

In 1992, he won the Pyongyang festival award for Best Actor for ‘Apartment 13’ (1990), and was nominated for a Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Simorgh for the film ‘Two and a Half People’ (1991).

In 1993, Khamseh appeared in the action movie ‘Eye of the Devil’. His outstanding acting in the film saw him nominated for a Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor.

In 2009, he won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘Twenty’ (2008).
