Iranian short documentary ‘Native’ has succeeded to garner the Best World Panorama award at the 2019 Life After Oil International Film Festival (LAOIFF) in Italy.
The 15-minute documentary, directed by Kioumars Sarshar, depicts the life of an old man whose children are after a job to immigrate to the city. The old man has to work in a salt mine and sell the salt with much difficulty.
The flick won the golden award for the Independent Shorts Awards monthly competition. The doc is a candidate for receiving the Independent Shorts annual awards too.
An environmental and human rights fest, the LAOIFF aims to raise public awareness on the risks of exploitation and the alternatives to fossil fuels.
The 6th edition of the LAOIFF was held on September 12-21, 2019.
