Iran’s ‘A Boy with a Movie Camera’ to vie in Spain

Iranian short ‘A Boy with a Movie Camera’ is to vie at the 2020 MICE film festival in Spain.

Iranian short title ‘A Boy with a Movie Camera’ has been selected to compete at the 8th edition of the Mostra International Cinema Educatiu (MICE) in Spain.

Directed by Amir-Hossein Tabbat, the short title narrates the story of a boy named Ayyoub who intends to make a film but the children in his village do not trust him.

The cast of the film includes Malek Tabbat, Soudabeh Yarmohammadi, Mohammad-Mehdi Tabbat and Mehdi Tabasideh.

Tabbat is a 14-year-old boy who became interested in cinema at the age of 12.

At 9, he used to write science fiction short stories and read them to his friends.

‘A Boy with a Movie Camera’ has previously competed at the 2019 Camera Zizanio Film Festival in Greece.

The short flick has also participated at the International Youth Media Festival in Austria and the McGuffin Film Festival in Russia where it won two Best Short Film awards.

The MICE is an educational festival for children, youth and general public that takes audiovisual education as a basis.

The competing films are made by students. In 2019, around 50,000 people attended the MICE events.

The latest edition of the festival will be held on May 8-17, 2020.
