‘A157’ director Nouranipour to test waters for extremism again

Noted Iranian filmmaker Behrouz Nouranipour is set to make a movie about extremism and violence.

Noted Iranian filmmaker Behrouz Nouranipour and director of internationally acclaimed documentary ‘A157’ is set to do a cinematic project on extremism and violence in the Middle East.

The film titled ‘Female Wolf’ is a new documentary produced by Hozeh-Honari (Art Bureau) attached to Iran Cinema Development Organization.

Nouranipour’s project is in development with a storyline delving into the root causes of terrorism, extremism and violence, a media report said.

Nouranipour documentary ‘A157’ on Daesh atrocities has won several awards, including the Signs Award and the first award of the documentary section of Italy’s International Festival Signes De Nuit held in April.

The 73-minute ‘A157’ is a shocking documentary about the horrors of war and terrorism in Syria, particularly inflicted on women and children.

"Iranian filmmaker Nouranipour approaches the fate of his protagonists [in ‘A157’] by reducing the visual level almost exclusively to the interior of the tent. This is where the girls huddle day after day, without expectations, alone, without protection," a catalogue text about the movie reads.

‘A157’ is a production by Soureh Documentary Center in Iran.
