‘The Slaughterhouse’ wins nom at Busan filmfest

Iran feature ‘The Slaughterhouse’ wins nom at the Busan Int’l Filmfest in S. Korea.

Iranian feature film ‘The Slaughterhouse’ has been nominated for a Kim Ji-Seok award at the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) in South Korea.

Abbas Amini’s ‘The Slaughterhouse’, which is set to go on screen at the A Window on Asian Cinema section of the S. Korean film event, has been picked to be among the 6 titles to run for the award at the 25th edition of the Korean fest.

Iranian feature film ‘Dying in Holy Water’ has also been nominated at the same category of the event.

According to the official website of the fest, the Kim Ji-Seok award “is to remember and honor the late Kim Ji-seok who passed away … after devoting his whole life to discovering young Asian directors and supporting the growth of Asian cinema. A grand of prize of USD 10,000 is awarded to two films”.

Produced by Javad Norouzbeigi, the movie is a narrative of some contemporary social issues.

The story of the film revolves around Amir, a young man who has been deported from France. For the sake of his father, Amir is engaged in a shocking crime.

The cast list of the flick includes Hassan Pour-Shirazi, Baran Kosari, Mani Haqiqi and Amir-Hossein Fathi.

‘The Slaughterhouse’ had its theatrical debut at the 38th Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

Founded in 1996, the BIFF is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia.

The 25th edition of the fest will be held on October 21-30, 2019.
