The movie is a 2020 Italian drama directed by Edoardo Ponti, from a screenplay by Ponti and Ugo Chiti.
It is the third screen adaptation of the novel ‘The Life Before Us’ by Romain Gary.
It was released in a limited release on November 6, 2020, followed by digital streaming on Netflix on November 13, 2020.
The film is about Madam Rosa who provides childcare for the children of working women.
After a 12-year old Senegalese street kid robs her, she reluctantly agrees to take him in.
They develop a deep bond and she tries to help him find his way in life.
Karimi plays the role of a shopkeeper in the neighborhood. He accepts the Senegalese boy to work in his shop and tries to teach him some good manners.
From 2004 to 2007, Karimi has been a consultant of the Venice Film Festival, particularly in selecting Iranian films for the event.
The Iranian actor and film editor was also part of the Italy Prospects Jury at the 7th Rome Film Festival in 2012.
