Rotterdam filmfest to show Iran’s ‘The Son’

The 50th Int’l Film Festival Rotterdam in the Netherlands is to screen Iran’s ‘The Son’.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands has scheduled to screen Iranian movie ‘The Son’.

Directed by Noushin Meraji and produced by Mehdi Fard-Qaderi, the movie will compete at the Bright Future section of the 50th edition of the Dutch event.

‘The Son’ is about Farid, a forty-year-old man who lives with his mother. He is very vulnerable and escapes loneliness, but in the meantime tries to prove himself independent and supportive of his mother. However, her sudden death makes Farid frustrated.

To escape from this unfamiliar situation, he clings to anyone he encounters outside home to make this loneliness bearable, but he does not know how to communicate and the situation goes from bad to worse.

The cast list of the movie includes Soheil Qanaddan, Nahid Haddadi, Donya Heidari, Mojtaba Fallahi, Maryam Naqib, and Atabak Naderi.

‘The Son’ is also set to compete at the 43rd Moscow International Film Festival on 22-29, 2021.

The IFFR is one of the largest public film events in the world. The festival actively supports independent filmmaking from around the globe and is a recognized platform in Europe for launching new films and talents.

The 50th edition of the IFFR is slated for June 2-6, 2021.
