Two young Iranian brickmakers who are eager to show love and loyalty to Ali ibn Musa al-Reza (AS), the eighth Shia Imam, decided to dedicate a special offering to Imam Reza’s (AS) shrine.
Mohammed and Ali were among many pilgrims of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Mashhad, bringing bricks made by the sweat of their brow during their visit to Imam Reza's (AS) shrine.
Their life is mixed with dust, sun and difficulty, but their hearts are full of love for the Imam.
“I worked hard [to make it]. I want to give it as a present to you, Imam Reza (AS),” one of the boys said in a video on their pilgrimage to the shrine.
Their special offering to the shrine astonished an official with the department of Waqf (endowment) and Nazri (votive offerings) in Astan Quds Razavi, the organization that manages the shrine.
“For me, it is a new thing. I have met many donors and saw Waqf and Nazris at different levels, but this is something else,” Hojatoleslam Hashemi said.
Muslims dedicate some or all of their belongings to the Prophet and Shia Imams under the religious concepts of endowment or Nazri to help needy people for the sake of God's rewards and forgiveness.
The video of their visit comes as Shia Muslims in Iran and across the world are celebrating the birth anniversary of Imam Reza (AS), which falls on Tuesday, this year.
