‘The Recess’ to vie at Italian Visioni Corte fest

The Visioni Corte International Film Festival in Italy is set to host acclaimed Iranian short film ‘The Recess’.

Written, produced and directed by Navid Nikkhah-Azad, ‘The Recess’ will be on the showcase at the Cortofiction International (International Short Fiction) competition section of the Italian fest’s 10th edition.

The 12-minute short tells the story of a 17-year-old school-girl who runs away from school to watch the football match of her beloved club.

Sahar, along with three of her friends, is planning to exit the school during the break in order to watch the match between Esteghlal FC and Al Ain FC at Azadi Sports Complex.

Mozhan Kordi, Reyhaneh Naieean, Niloufar Shokouhinia, and Ghazal Khalili are on the cast list.

Kordi won the award for the best performance for her role in ‘The Recess’ at the 33rd Living Skies Student Film Festival in Canada.

The film has already toured a number of global film events including, the Oxford Film Festival in the US, the Garden State Film Festival in the US and the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria.

The Visioni Corte International Film Festival aims to provide grounds for emerging filmmakers from around the world to showcase their artistic talent. The event is also after combining culture, tourism and filmmaking innovations.

This year’s edition of the fest is slated for September 18-25.
