Croatia’s Split filmfest to host Iranian movie ‘The Badger’

Iranian movie ‘The Badger’ is to compete at the 2021 Split Film Festival in Croatia.

Iranian movie ‘The Badger’ has been selected to compete at the 26th edition of the Split Film Festival in Croatia.

Directed by Kazem Mollaee, the feature film is about a woman named Soudeh who lives with her son in an old apartment.

Soudeh’s 11-year-old son, Matiar, gets kidnapped as she is about to start a second marriage.

After considerable search and effort, Soudeh decides to ask for the ransom money from her ex-husband, Peyman. How much will this incident challenge her certainties?

Hassan Majouni, Behnoush Bakhtiyari, Reza Behboudi, Vishka Asayesh, Mehraveh Sharifinia, and Gohar Kheirandish are on the cast list of ‘The Badger’.

The 93-minute feature has gone on screen at some global events, including the Jaipur International Film Festival in India, the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria, the Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh, the Winchester Film Festival in the UK, the Shanghai International Film Festival in China, the Salerno International Film Festival in Italy, and the Berkeley Video & Film Festival in the US, where it won the grand prize for the best foreign feature.

According to the official website of the Split Film Festival, “the Festival promotes new, creative, personal, experimental, radical and subversive works, of all lengths, styles and genres, generally produced outside the mainstream, all the while keeping its primary focus on excellence and outstanding achievements”.

The 2021 edition of the event will be held on September 15-21.
