Golden Lion Int’l Theatrical Festival to host two Iranian plays

The 32nd Golden Lion International Theatrical Festival in Ukraine is to play host to two Iranian plays.

‘Holodomor’ directed by Raha Hajizeinal and ‘Women’s Auschwitz’ directed by Ali Safari are the two plays to present Iran for the first time at the Ukrainian festival. 

Organized by Iranian troupe Segane, Hajizeinal and Safari’s theatrical works will compete with works from Italy, Canada, Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Georgia, the US and Slovakia.

Co-produced by Safari and Hajizeinal, both plays are parts of a trilogy about World War II. ‘Berlin 10:10’ is another part of the trio.

‘Holodomor’ and ‘Women’s Auschwitz’ will also go on stage at the non-competitive event of the Theatre on Pechersk in Kiev, from October 4 to 6, 2021.

Following the performance in Ukraine, the two works will be staged in Poland, Armenia and Georgia.

The 32nd Golden Lion International Theatrical Festival is due for October 1-8, 2021.
