Iranian movie ‘African Violet’ releases trailer

Iranian feature film ‘African Violet’ releases a trailer.

Iranian feature film ‘African Violet’ has released a trailer.

Made by Mona Zandi-Haqiqi, the 93-minute movie is a compassionate drama of strength and reunion about Shokouh, a woman who finds out that her ex-husband, Fereydoun, has been placed in a nursing home by their children.

She and her second husband take an unconventional step to take care of Fereydoun in their own home.

At first glance, the idea of a rustic design for a house may seem impossible as it requires a place in a pleasant rural area. However, ‘African Violet’ shows a warm and intimate environment to enjoy simple and natural decorations where the main elements of the rustic style are used.

Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Saeed Aqakhani, Reza Babak, Mehdi Hosseininia, Roya Javidnia, and Neda Jebraeeli have starred in the movie.

‘African Violet’ has gone on screen at several global events, including the Atlanta Film Festival in the US, the Persian Film Festival in Australia, the MSP Iranian Film Festival in the US, the Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema in France, the Edinburgh Iranian Festival in Scotland, the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea, the International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva in Switzerland, the Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival in the US, the Iranian Cinema Festival of Chantilly in France, and the Iranian Film Festival-San Francisco in the US.

It won the special jury award at the 2019 Tripoli Film Festival in Lebanon and the best script award at the 2020 Asian Film Festival Barcelona in Spain.
