‘Ballad of a White Cow’ awarded at Valladolid

Iranian-French feature ‘Ballad of a White Cow’ is awarded at the Valladolid Int’l Film Festival in Spain.

Iranian-French feature ‘Ballad of a White Cow’ has been awarded at the 66th Valladolid International Film Festival, one of the biggest and oldest film events in Spain.

Behtash Sanaeeha and Maryam Moghaddam, the co-directors of ‘Ballad of a White Cow’, won the Pilar Miró Award for best new director at the Spanish festival.

Besides being the film’s co-director, Moghaddam is a female lead.

‘Ballad of a White Cow’ is about Mina, a mother whose life has been turned upside down since she learned that “her husband was innocent of the crime for which he was executed”, a synopsis for the film reads.

The feature was also awarded at the 2021 edition of the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) in Switzerland.

Valladolid International Film Festival, founded in 1956, has become one of the main international film festivals in Spain.
