Iran handicrafts from palm leaves

Iranian artisans have made some impressive handicrafts from dried palm leaves.  

Here are some photos showing how crafters in Iranian province of Bushehr make eye-catching, finely woven items from dried palm leaves.

Palm leaf items are light yet sturdy, making them easy to carry around. 

Hasir Bafi (weaving wicker) is quite simple with limited tools such as files, scissors, and needles. This artistic profession is commonly practiced in provinces of Sistan-Baluchestan, Khuzestan, Kurdistan, Hormozgan and Bushehr.
