‘The Doll’ to vie at Athens Film + Video fest in the US

Iranian short documentary ‘The Doll’ is to vie at the Athens Int'l Film + Video Festival (AIFVF) in the US.

Iranian short documentary ‘The Doll’ is scheduled to vie at the Athens International Film + Video Festival (AIFVF) in the US.

Directed by Elaheh Esmaeeli, the film will vie at the Shorts 2022 section of the 49th edition of the event.

The 33-minute documentary shows how the whole family members of a young girl can have parts in her future and fate. She is only 14 when the family is making a decision about marrying her off.

The short doc has already toured various global events, including the Atlanta Film Festival in the US, the International Film Festival of Huesca in Spain, and the kortfilmfestivalen in Norway.

Rezvan Beheshtian, Sahar Abdollahi, Mohammad-Javad Asadi, and Nabiollah Minaee are the main cast members of the flick.

The AIFVF is an annual event which was launched in 1975.

According to the official website of the fest, it is “Known globally as a festival that supports cinema from underground and marginalized populations”.

This year’s AIFVF is set to be held on April 1-7.
