‘The Roots’ to vie at Vaasa Wildlife Festival

Iranian doc ‘The Roots’ is to compete at the Vaasa Wildlife Festival in Finland.

Iranian documentary ‘The Roots’ has been set to compete at the Vaasa Wildlife Festival in Finland.

Directed by Mohammad Hassani, ‘The Roots’ will take part in the festival’s Student Works and Newcomers category.

The film is about a pregnant woman who works in a laboratory. After the outbreak of the coronavirus, she has been forced to stay at work and help COVID-19 cases, along with her other colleagues, as there was no one to substitute for her.

Earlier reports said Iranian films ‘Coexist’ and ‘Echo’ will also compete at the Finnish event.

The Vaasa Wildlife Festival is an international nature film festival. It was founded in 2002.

The gala screens works themed on climate change, people's relationship with nature and conservation.

The 11th edition of the festival will kick off on September 28 and run until October 2.
