Hot Docs fest in Canada awards Iran’s ‘Mrs. Iran’s Husband’

The Hot Docs Canadian Int'l Doc Fest awards Iran's ‘Mrs. Iran’s Husband’.

The Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival has awarded Iranian short film ‘Mrs. Iran’s Husband’.

Directed by Marjan Khosravi and produced by Milad Khosravi, the 27-minute short grabbed the Best International Short documentary Award at the 30th edition of the Canadian film event.

‘Mrs. Iran’s Husband’ is inspired by the novel ‘Madam Ahou’s Husband’ by Ali Mohammad Afghani (1968), and tells the story of the life of a Bakhtiyari nomadic family.

Sultan Mohammad proposes taking a third wife as a way to maintain and expand his free labor force, to the consternation of his current wives.

The Hot Docs is recognized as a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards in the Documentary Feature and Documentary Short Subject categories.

This year’s edition of the event was held on April 27-May 07.
