Famed Iranian director Shahram Mokri has finished shooting his new movie in Tajikistan.
The film, titled ‘Black Rabbit, White Rabbit’, is in Russian and Tajik. It features some Iranian actors, including the well-known Babak Karimi.
Mokri’s previous films, such as ‘Fish & Cat,’ have won awards and praise from critics at film festivals around the world.
‘Black Rabbit, White Rabbit’ tells the story of three different people whose lives connect in unexpected ways. One character is a director remaking a classic Iranian movie in Tajikistan. A second is a young woman who arrives at the film set, believing she was asked to be in the movie. The third is a woman named Sara who gets into a car accident somewhere else in the city.
The movie follows how these three people’s lives become tangled together.
Shahram Mokri wrote the screenplay with his regular writing partner, Nasim Ahmadpour. Now that filming is complete, Mokri is set to edit the movie himself. A French company will handle the film’s worldwide distribution.
