Iran drama ‘Under the Smoky Roof’ crowned best at health filmfest

Pouran Derkhshandeh's drama ‘Under the Smoky Roof’ has won an award at the Health Film Festival.

The movie received the festival's award for best film during the closing ceremony held on Sunday.

‘Under the Smoky Roof’ is based on the social and emotional dilemma of divorce in Iranian culture.

The movie narrates the story of Shirin, who faces challenges in her relationship with her family and tries to mend the relations.

The film was screened at the 35th Fajr Film Festival and nominated at six different sections for the Crystal Simorgh.

The National Health Filmfest aims at collecting brilliant ideas by inviting committed cinema artists whose concern is healthy life for people.

This year’s gala was held on August 23-27, 2017 in Tehran.
