Int’l cartoon biennial fair opens in Tehran

Tehran is hosting the 11th Tehran International Cartoon Biennial at Saba Art and Culture Institute.

Head of Culture Ministry's Visual Arts Department, Majid Molla Nowroozi was among the guest at the inauguration ceremony of the international event.

According to the secretary of the biennial, who was addressing the audience at opening ceremony, it is among the top artistic events in the country.

The Biennial is held in three sections of thematic cartoons on topics of safety and security, free cartoons and cartoons with the theme of world famous actors, athletes and politicians.

Some 498 works of Iranian cartoonists and 73 works of foreign artists are showcased. 12 international cartoonists will also show up toward the end of the biennial, and on the sidelines, several workshops have been scheduled to be held.

The closing ceremony is slated to be held on December 15 at Tehran’s Contemporary Art Museum.
