Debut for doc on DAESH atrocities to screen at Cinema Verite

Debut for Iran’s unique doc to be held in int’l Cinema Verite

One-of-a-kind Iran doc’s debut is to be held in the 11th international Cinema Verite in Tehran.

The film, a wartime journalistic report, depicts the first hand experience of warriors, by following them at the frontline of the battle with the terrorist Takfiri group of DAESH (ISIL).

Directed by Reza Farahmand, ‘Women with Gunpowder Earrings’ chronicles the story of women and kids directly involved in the war on DAESH. That’s why the flick is the first to show such unprecedented images.

The journalist takes the risk of his life, and despite all the social pressures around for his being there at the war front, he keeps making the doc.

Farhamand has so far snatched three domestic and one international (Australian) fest awards for his movie ‘Shirzad’.

The Documentary and Experimental Film Centre (DEFC) organizes the annual Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite.

The fest showcases the very best of documentary world in an attempt to bridge the gap between reality and truth.

It has 3 international and another 3 national competition sections for short, mid-length and feature-length documentaries.

The festival also enjoys numerous non-competition sections such as Mirror of a Festival, Our Time, Our Universe, Portrait, etc. that are designed on a year by year basis.

The 11th edition of the event is kicking off today, and will wrap up on December 17, 2017 in the Iranian capital.
