Iranian actor Ashkan Khatibi to give Concert Theater

Iranian actor Ashkan Khatibi is to send a concert theater on stage in Tehran.

Iranian actor, singer and guitarist Ashkan Khatibi has written and directed a concert theater to send on stage in Tehran.

The concert theater titled ‘10 Years of Solitude’ will be performed from December 24 to 31, 2017, at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

To go on stage every night at 9:30 pm, three actors, six musicians and three choir singers will take part at the show.

Concert Theater is a blend form in which music and drama are performed live together. Thus music is not just a defining tool for mood and atmosphere, but it serves as another language expressed by the musicians - a voice and character in its own right, spoken alongside the actors on the same stage.

Khatibi, his wife Anahita Dargahi and Pouria Rahimi-Sam are the actors. The choir trio is comprised of Tara Salahi, Fatemeh Sarebanha and Mona Shams.

The musicians include Ashkan Abron (composer, keyboardist and music arranger), Bardia Amiri (violinist), Nima Ramezan (electric guitarist), Arash Saeedi (bassist and guitarist), Soroush Adl (bassist) as well as Hooman Namdari (composer, music arranger, conductor, pianist and saxophonist).

“10 Years of Solitude is a multimedia project. It is an evolved version of 'Rock the Pen,' my last year's project,” Khatibi said.

He added “I've selected a different music style with a different type of performance. The project combines theater, music, digital painting and cinema.”

Expressing hopes to stage the show in other cities, Khatibi said the project took a lot of time and effort. It is designed in such a way that it can only be performed at Vahdat Hall, due to the special seating layout of the venue.

More than 20 people have employed their artistic skills to take ‘10 Years of Solitude’ on stage.

Born in 1978, Khatibi has a bachelor’s degree in Theater from the Islamic Azad University.

Some movies which he has appeared in include ‘So Close, So Far’, ‘Absolutely Tame is a Horse’ and ‘The Rules of Accidents’.

Among the series he had roles in are ‘Travel Companion’, ‘Time of Rebellion’, ‘If My Dad Were Alive’, ‘Breathless’, ‘On the Way to Zayandeh Roud’, ‘Lean on the Wind’ and ‘Relatively Bad Guys’.

Khatibi has also hosted the shows ‘The House of New Design’ and ‘Chat’.
