‘Weavers of Imagination’ wins award at Portuguese filmfest

Iranian documentary 'Weavers of Imagination' wins grand prix of a film festival in Portugal.

Iranian documentary 'Weavers of Imagination' has received the grand prix at the 4th edition of the International Documentary Film Festival and Transmedia (RIOS) in Portugal.

The Iranian documentary won the Portuguese award in competition with 24 other titles from Spain, Portugal, Australia, the UK, Peru, Egypt, Argentina, France, Brazil, Poland and Russia.

Directed by Mohammad-Sadeq Jafari, the documentary tells the story of a number of blind people who devise a Braille plan for weaving a carpet.

It also depicts the good relationship and the happy moments that they have when they get together.

The documentary has so far succeeded to receive Best Documentary Awards from the 1st Lifft India World Festival held in Lonavla, a region near Mumbai, and the Cardiff International Film Festival in the UK.

‘Weavers of Imagination’ was also selected for screening at the main section of the Zlatna Anthropology Festival in Romania and will go on screen at the Scottish Independent Film Festival in the UK, the 2nd Arc Film Festival in Germany, and the 5th Ethnografilm Festival in Paris, France.

The RIOS is defined as an activity platform for the creation and promotion of author projects in the independent film and audiovisual and intends to exploit and disseminate the aesthetic potential linked to the river, making it a special area of filmmaking under documentary.

The 4th edition of the RIOS was held on March 21-24, 2018, in Vila Real, Portugal.
