Bangladesh to screen Iran film

Iranian feature ‘Yadoo’ has made its way to the Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) in Bangladesh.

Mehdi Jafari’s award-winning film will vie at the Cinema of the World section of the 20th edition of the event.

The film tells the story of a family in the city of Abadan during the first days of the 1980-88 Iraq’s imposed war on Iran.

The family, a mother and three children, stay in the city while the other families in the neighborhood are leaving.

This is the story of how hard is it to leave a city one has lived there for an age.

The website of the Dhaka Film Festival states the “DIFF is a bold expression of resistance against the decadence, vulgarity and cheap commercialism that pervades the mainstream Bangladesh film industry”.

The 20th edition of the event is scheduled for January 15-23, 2022.
