Resistance fest strengthens Iraq ties

Baghdad has welcomed a delegation from the International Resistance Film Festival, arriving to enhance cultural and cinematic collaboration with Iraqi officials.

The visit, coordinated with the Basira Media Foundation, marks a significant step in strengthening artistic ties between Iran and Iraq.

As part of the delegation’s program, the film ‘North by Southwest’ will be screened for the first time in Iraq at the Cinema and Theater Festival, organized by the Basira Foundation.

This highly anticipated film, directed and written by Hamid Zargarnejad, Mohammad Hosseini, and Mohammad-Javad Eslami, and produced by Mehdi Madadkar, delves into a political war narrative.

Beyond screenings, the cooperation between the Resistance Film Festival and the Basira Foundation extends to the production of joint cinematic projects, including the second part of ‘North by Southwest’, which will be filmed in Camp Ashraf.

The collaboration will also feature training courses in cinema and artificial intelligence, along with cinematic events across Iraq.

The star-studded cast of ‘North by Southwest’ includes Mostafa Zamani, Amir Aqaee, Behnaz Jafari, Houman Haji-Abdollahi, Ali Dehkordi, Mehdi Ahmadi, Amir-Reza Delavari, Siamak Safari, Khatereh Asadi, Mohammad-Rasoul Safari, Reza Tavakkoli, and Behzad Jafari.

The film, featuring the tagline "Our problem is that we must keep our pain locked away," is already generating anticipation as a landmark production.
