Teenage steps into ‘Salman the Persian’

The much-anticipated historical series ‘Salman the Persian’, directed by Davoud Mir-Baqeri, continues its production with new and exciting updates.

The TV series explores the multi-layered life of Salman the Persian—the famous Iranian companion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)—through several chapters, showing his journey across different times and lands.

Recently, the team finished filming scenes about Salman’s teenage years in Ghazali Cinema Town.

Now, the production has moved to the Iranian city of Damavand, to record more scenes.

Producer Hossein Taheri explained that two and a half years ago, the production team had filmed scenes for the “Byzantine” season in the same area, especially parts set in the historic Aqiq Caravanserai.

Thanks to new and impressive set designs, the “Ancient Iran” season is now being filmed in Absard, he added.

This “Ancient Iran” season, which started last summer, is the largest and most challenging part of the series. It features many well-known Iranian actors such as Alireza Shoja-Nouri, the late Changiz Jalilvand, Farhad Aslani, Dariush Farhang, Mohammadreza Hedayati, Setareh Eskandari, Elham Korda, Amir Rezaee, Ehtesham Boroumand, Hesam Manzour, among others.

Once this chapter is complete, filming for the final season, called “Hejaz,” will begin in the middle of 2026.

‘Salman the Persian’ is structured in three main chapters: “Ancient Iran,” “Byzantine,” and “Hejaz.” Each one explores a different era—covering major periods like the Sassanid Empire in Iran, the Byzantine Empire, and the Hejaz region at the dawn of Islam—telling the story of Salman’s experiences in these historic times.

Filming began at the end of 2019 and has taken the cast and crew to various cinematic towns and real locations, including places like Kerman, Shahroud, Qeshm, Jolfa, and even Armenia.

Besides many famous Iranian actors and nearly 2,000 local theater artists, the project also features about 40 foreign actors from countries such as Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, and Armenia.

With its powerful story, rich historical detail, and international cast, ‘Salman the Persian’ promises to be one of the biggest TV events for Iranian series and movie fans in the coming year.
