Let's catch VFX in Iran short film

What truly sets new Iranian short film 'Salamoon' apart is its VFX‑created fish with hauntingly lifelike creatures, both living and dead, that become the film’s visual heartbeat.

Crafted through a fusion of modeling, lighting, and compositing, the short film's VFX blur the boundary between physical and imagined worlds.

Directed by Komeil Arjmand, 'Salamoon' is a mysterious short inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s 'The Handsomest Drowned Man in the World', unfolding in Iran’s deep south.

In total, 90 VFX shots enrich the film, with more than 80 devoted to the design and animation of these surreal fish.

Remarkably, what would normally take around two months was accomplished in under one, on a low‑budget production completed at barely one‑third of the usual cost.
