Taraneh Alidousti
Alidousti, Taraneh (born 1984, Tehran)
The Crystal-Simorgh-winning Iranian actress Taraneh Alidousti studied music at high school.
Later she participated in Amin Tarokh acting classes and made her cinematic debut with ‘I'm Taraneh, 15’ in 2000, for which she won the Crystal Simorgh for the best actress at the 20th Fajr Film Festival.
She has starred in many movies including ‘The Beautiful City’ (2004), ‘Fireworks Wednesday’ (2006), ‘Canaan’ (2008), ‘Doubt’ (2009), ‘About Elly’ (2009), ‘Whatever God Wants’ (2010), ‘Life With Closed Eyes’ (2011), ‘At the End of 8th Street’ (2011), ‘The Shallow Yellow Sky’ (2013), ‘Absolute Rest’ (2015) and ‘The Salesman’ (2016) for which she found global fame.
Alidousti became more popular after starring in the drama series ‘Shahrzad’ (2015) which was well received by a great number of the audiences.
She won many international awards including Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress for ‘I'm Taraneh 15’ at the 20th Fajr Film Festival, Best Actress award for the film at Locarno International Film Festival 2002, Crystal Simorgh nomination for Best Actress for ‘The Beautiful City’ at the 22nd Fajr Film Festival, the Competition Award for ‘Modest Reception’ at Cinefan Festival of Asian and Arab Cinema 2012, Special Mention of the International Jury for ‘Modest Reception’ at Vesoul International Film Festival 2013, Crystal Simorgh nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role for ‘The Shallow Yellow Sky’ at the Fajr Film Festival 2013, Best Actress Drama nomination for ‘Shahrzad’ at Hafez Award, 2016.
