Karimi, Iraj (born 1953, Tehran – died September 2, 2015, Tehran)

Iraj Karimi, a graduate of Mechanic Engineering, was an Iranian screenwriter, director and critic who began his career as the short filmmaker in 1981.

His first feature film was made for the small screen and his cinematic debut took place with ‘We Pass by Each Other’ in 2000 which was written, produced and directed by him.

He has directed a number of movies, including ‘Kandelous Gardens’ (2004) and ‘The Magical Generation’ (2006).

Karimi was an influential figure in Iranian Cinema and has translated a few books on cinema into Persian language.

He has some experience in script writing and film production. He published some books on cinema as well.

After a period of suffering from cancer, Iraj Karimi died in 2015.
