Veteran Iranian actor Saeed Pour-Samimi is to go on stage after 10 years.

Veteran Iranian actor Saeed Pour-Samimi has been set to go on stage after 10 years of hiatus.

The veteran actor's return will take place with 'Swan Song' Directed and co-performed by Parizad Seyf on May 5, 2018.

'Swan Song' is a vaudeville by Anton Chekhov about an old actor and his prompter in a theater after the lights go out.

Adapted from one of his own stories, 'Swan Song' made Chekhov's reputation in the theater in 1888. It is also about lost love.

Born in 1943, Pour-Samimi began acting in 1961 working with Parviz Pour-Hosseini, and Parviz Fanizadeh in the Bazargah troupe.

After attending acting and directing courses at Tehran University Faculty of Fine Arts and earning a BA in Theater in Rasht, he was employed by the Theater Office.

He later became an employee of the IRIB Theater Unit and directed and wrote a number of stage and television plays.

In 1986, he acted in his first film 'Captain Khorshid'. He usually appears in supporting roles for which he has garnered much praise.

He was nominated for Iran Cinema Celebration awards for 'Land of the Sun' in 1996, 'The Beautiful and the Hideous' in 1998, 'Here, a Shining Light' in 2002, and 'A Cube of Sugar' in 2011.

He was also nominated for the Fajr International Film Festival Crystal Simorgh for 'Land of the Sun', 'The Beautiful and the Hideous', 'The Equation' in 2003, and 'The Lone Trees' in 2007.

Pour-Samimi won three Best Actor Crystal Simorghs in Supporting Role for 'Captain Khorshid', 'The Gifts' in 1987, and 'The Last Act' in 1990.

His other works include 'The Devoted', 'The Face', 'Under Your Protection', 'The Bride of Fire', 'Rules of the Game', 'Honeymoon' and 'Kissing the Moonlike Face', 'A Cube of Sugar', and 'Antsy'.
