Iranian feature film ‘Israfil’ directed by Ida Panahandeh has released a music video.
The music video is produced by the film producer Mastaneh Mohajer and written and sang by Rouzbeh Bemani.
Text of the clip titled ‘I Wholeheartedly Wanted’ by Bemani is as follows:
“I’m such dead after your departure that my soul has given up my body.
I’m not complaining, don’t go and listen; you must know what happened to me.
You must know what happened to me when I saw where you were going.
My dear, your recompense is to stay and listen that how I was killed.
I wholeheartedly wanted to lovingly stay with your absence.
I’ll keep the burden of my love overwhelmingly to the eternity.
Like a dried branch of tree, I’m hanging in the air.
To you that are long gone, how can I say why I stayed?
How can I say why I’m in love? Love is a way to deceive myself.
How I still worship you? It’s a strange era of time.
I wholeheartedly wanted to lovingly stay with your absence.
I’ll keep the burden of my love overwhelmingly to the eternity.”
Panahandeh’s highly-anticipated second feature is a meticulously constructed reflection on lost love, loneliness and life choices, viewed through the prism of three intersecting lives.
The 100-minute film starts with a fight that erupts at the funeral of Mahi’s young son – a successful wrestler who died suddenly in a car crash. Behrooz, a figure from Mahi’s past, has turned up to pay his respects.
An unexpected and unwelcome guest, he has returned after two decades in exile to sell his land and meet his fiancée Sara for the first time. Having spent a lifetime caring for her disabled mother, Sara is at odds with her brother about how to care for their mother and determined to take a step towards enjoying a life of her own. But Mahi and Behrooz’s reunion stirs up a painful past.
Panahandeh sensitively articulates the reasons why their young love wasn’t allowed to flourish and brings into focus its long-term repercussions.
The flick features Pejman Bazeghi, Hedieh Tehrani, Merila Zarei and Hoda Zeinolabedin.
