Iran toon ‘Mr. Deer’ heads to int'l festivals

Iran stop-motion animation ‘Mr. Deer’ by Mojtaba Mousavi is headed to international festivals soon.

Iran stop-motion animation ‘Mr. Deer’ by Mojtaba Mousavi is to take a bow at international festivals soon.

Produced by Elaheh Farnia, ‘Mr. Deer’ will attend the short film section of the 42nd Annecy Int'l Animation Filmfest as its first international appearance.

The producer told local media, "The animation took two years of production with professional tech crew in collaboration."

Following upcoming attendance of the animation in French fest, 'Mr. Deer' will be present at some other film events with details yet to be released.

‘Mr. Deer’ was awarded at the international competition section of the 36th Fajr Int'l Filmfest.

The 9-minute animation is set in an unknown time, in a ruined subway station which is similar to those in modern European societies. People in this society have animal faces and forgotten humanity.

'Run Rostam, Run' by Hossein Molayemi is another animated work from Iran to compete alongside Mousavi's ‘Mr. Deer’ at the Annecy event.

Annecy International Animation Film Festival is the world's top reference for animation films and one of the four international animated film festivals sponsored by the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA).

The event is scheduled for June 11-16, 2018 in Annecy town, southeastern France.
