Iran orchestra performs for world cup

Renowned musicians see state team off with performance.

Iran Orchestra has performed to bid farewell to the national team, with world famous artists on the stage in Tehran.

With Shahrdad Rohani as conductor and Salar Aghili as vocal soloist, the ensemble performed the national song titled ‘Eleven Stars’, composed especially for the state team. Babak Zarrin had composed the entire piece, which was staged in the iconic Vahdat Hall in the capital.

Several veteran footballers and many artists and actors, as well as the national football team members were among the audience.

The ceremony was titled ‘Linking Arts and Sports’. Also, another piece called ‘Champion’s Song’ was performed by the orchestra, to surprise the footballers and the state team coach.

The artists, representing 80 million Iranians, congratulated the national football players for having made it to the world cup, and wished them victory.

To express gratitude, the coach and players of the team offered the conductor, solo vocalist and composers with the state team’s shirt, numbered 12.

Immediately after the ceremony, the team departed for Russia, where world cup 2018 is slated to be held.
