Nahal film festival to honor director Nasser Taqvaei

The Nahal film festival is to honor Iranian director Nasser Taqvaei.

The Nahal film festival has scheduled to honor Iranian director Nasser Taqvaei, publishing a special outlet about him and his works.

The 15th edition of the festival, to be held in national and international sections, will also screen Taqvaei's ‘Unruled Paper’ on the first day.

‘Sadeq Kordeh’, ‘Freedom’, ‘Badjen’, ‘Greek Ship’, ‘Arbaeen’, ‘Last Exercise’, and ‘Captain Khorshid’ are among the other works by the honoree to go on the Nahal screen.

The Nahal film festival is a student event to be held in cooperation with Iran's National Film House.

Born in 1941 in southern Iranian city of Abadan, Taqvaei studied Literature at Tehran University’s Faculty of Literature.

Before the film industry, he was working in television and became popular as a series director.

He began working in the film industry as a member of the technical crew working on ‘Brick and Mirror’ in 1965.

Taqvaei directed the film ‘Tranquility in the Presence of Others’ in 1972 based on a story by Iranian writer Gholam-Hossein Saedi for which he won the Best Film certificate of merit from the Venice International Film Festival in Italy.

He was nominated for Best Director for ‘Captain Khorshid’ in 1986 at the Fajr International Film Festival.

His ‘Unruled Paper’, made in 2001, won the Fajr Festival Crystal Simorgh for Best Director and the Iran Cinema Celebration’s Critics Choice award of Best Film.

Beside feature films, Taqvaei has made several documentaries.
