Legendary Iran director Abbas Kiarostami has unraveled untold stories of his masterpiece 'Close-Up'.

The helmer said he had never made such memorable title before 'Close-Up' as it inspired him a new approach to filmmaking.

Kiarostami came up with the idea of helming this realistic drama while going through some short columns for a newspaper.

He sees a piece about a man who had masqueraded as a filmmaker. It piques his curiosity to find out the man's ulterior motive.

Now he is intrigued to recreate all that had happened in front of his camera.

The most interesting and perhaps the reason this film was received so well by the international audience is that every detail on the film was a true reflection of what happened in reality.

'Close-Up' has been reviewed by respectable trade publications in the arena of cinema and arts such as Cahiers du Cinéma, a French film magazine.

It also racked up plenty of awards from international film festivals, including 1990 Montreal World Film Festival.
