Fajr Int’l Fest to unveil 3 restored Iranian films

The Fajr International Film Festival is to unveil 3 restored films from Iran’s cinema history.

The 2017 edition of Fajr International Film Festival is scheduled to unveil 3 restored films from Iran’s cinema history.

Director of National Film Archive of Iran, Ladan Taheri, said three films restored at the archive will be unveiled at the Fajr International Film Festival.

Referring to the archive activities in repairing, converting and color correcting of the movies, Taheri noted that the National Film Archive plans to restore a number of historical Iranian films every year.

“Thus, three movies are selected for restoration in 2016. The restoration includes repairing, color correcting and converting the negatives to digital files,” she added.

The director underlined that the titles will not be released until the 2017 edition of the Fajr International Film Festival in April.

“The selected movies are directed by some of the most famous Iranian filmmakers, belonging to both eras before and after the Islamic Revolution in Iran,” Taheri concluded.

Established in 1982, Fajr International Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th International Fajr Film Festival which is Iran’s most important film presentation and competition festival is scheduled to take place in the country’s capital of Tehran from April 21 through 28, 2017.
