Iran documentary film ‘Death of Qanat’ has been admitted for competition at the 21st To Save and Preserve film festival in Russia, as well as the 12th Voices from the Waters film festival in India.
Directed and written by Abbas Heydari, and produced by Iran Youth Cinema society of Gonabad, the doc film examines the drying out of the only Qanat in Nodeh countryside, located in Gonabad, Iran.
‘Spreading the information about environmental policy in Russia and other countries of the world’, as well as ‘Attraction the public’s attention to existing ecological problems and competitive demonstration of new TV programs and films forming ecological consciousness in the society’ are among the goals set for To Save and Preserve film festival on its official website.
The website of Voices from the Waters film festival expresses the event’s purpose as focusing on ‘the International efforts on water conservation and people’s struggle for sustainable development through the medium of documentary films which will give further impetus to the public awareness on the need to conserve our water resources for posterity and to re -imagine it a source of the embodiment of life worlds, without reducing it to a commodity’.
the 12th Voices from the Waters film festival is slated to be held June 3 to 8, 2018 in Russia, while the weeklong 21st To Save and Preserve film festival is scheduled to kick off on October 17 in India.
