‘Weavers of Imagination’ wins Grand Jury Prize at US filmfest

Iran documentary ‘Weavers of Imagination’ succeeds to win Grand Jury Prize at Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival in the US.

Iran documentary ‘Weavers of Imagination’ has succeeded to win Grand Jury Prize at the 14th edition of Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPI) in the US.

The American film event granted the Grand Jury Prize for best documentary feature to ‘Weavers of Imagination’.

Directed by Mohammad-Sadeq Jafari, the documentary tells the story of a number of blind people who devise a Braille plan for weaving a carpet.

It also depicts the good relationship and the happy moments that they have when they get together.

The documentary has so far succeeded to receive Best Documentary Awards from the first edition of the Lifft India World Festival held in Lonavla, a region near Mumbai.

‘Weavers of Imagination’ was also selected for screening at the main section of the Zlatna Anthropology Festival in Romania in 2017.

Established in 2004, the Houston Asian American Pacific Islander Film Festival (HAAPI Film Festival) aims to “celebrate the diversity of culture, food, and stories of the AAPI community and to support AAPI artists and filmmakers.”

The 14th edition of the event was held on 31 May to 8 June in Texas, United States.
