Iran award-winning ‘Axing’ premieres in Iran theaters

Behrouz Shoeibi’s award-winning movie has released in Iranian cinema halls.

Behrouz Shoeibi’s award-winning movie ‘Axing’ formerly named ‘The Woodpecker’ has premiered in Iranian cinema halls.  

The social drama features a different narrative on how people confront addiction and drug abuse.

"Everyone has something to hold on to," a tagline for the film sums up.

‘The Woodpecker’ is Shoeibi’s third directorial offering after successful movies ‘The Corridor’ and ‘Cyanide’.

The flick has notable Iranian stars such as Mahnaz Afshar, Jamshid Hashempour, Sara Bahrami, Hadi Hejazifar, Negar Abedi, and Amin Hayaee in the cast.

Critically acclaimed ‘Axing’ had 10 nominations in the 36th edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran and scored 2 Crystal Simorgh awards at the event.

Sara Bahrami received Best Actress in a Leading Role Crystal Simorgh for her amazing portrayal of an addict.
