‘King Lear’ school version takes the stage in Tehran

Iranian stage director Mohammad Aqebati children adaptation of Shakespeare’s King Lear is playing in Tehran.

“Our aim was to help teenage student know standard dramatists and their works better. We want them to have a firsthand experience of  theater.” Aqebati says.

The Iranshahr Theater Complex will host the event and Hassan Majuni and Leili Rashidi are the main actors.

‘King Lear’ depicts the gradual decline into madness of the title character, after he divides his kingdom between two of his three daughters while refusing his youngest daughter a share due to her frankness.
