Portugal’s Films on Art Festival screens Iran’s ‘Golchehreh’

Films On Art Portugal screens Iranian drama film ‘Golchehreh’ directed by Vahid Mousaian.

The festival of Films On Art Portugal has screened the Iranian drama film ‘Golchehreh’ directed by Vahid Mousaian.

The event screened the 108-minute true story on February 19, 2017, which was about the Taliban in Afghanistan and how they tried to destroy their National Film Archive as well as attempted to close all cinema theaters in the country.

‘Golchehreh’ is about Ashraf Khan, a cinema owner in Kabul who wants to rebuild his cinema after the fall of the communist regime of Najibullah and domination of Mujahidin.

But once again, everything falls apart and the Kabul ruins are burnt down in the flames of the civil wars. The war invades everywhere, even Afghanistan’s National Film Archive, which preserves the images of the nation.

The movie has previously been displayed in a number of international film festivals, including Zanzibar International Film Festival in Tanzania, Jaipur International Film Festival in India, and Middle Eastern Film & Arts Festival in Finland.

The film has been admired at several festivals and has won a few awards, including the Grand Prix award of the 2011 Batumi International Art-House Film Festival (BIAFF) in Georgia, the Red Rose Award of the 4th Jaipour International Film Festival (JIFF) in India and the Golden Dhow Award at the 16th Zanzibar International Film Festival in Tanzania.

Films On Art Portugal (Filmes Sobre Arte in Portuguese) is an international film festival, aiming to promote films which deal with art, artistic creation and art works.

The 2017 edition of the event was held in Lisbon on February 16-19.
