Turkey has selected ‘The Wild Pear Tree’ as the country’s 2018 Oscar entry for the Best Foreign Language Film award.
Turkey’s foreign language entry by Nuri Bilge Ceylan premiered this year in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.
The title was screened out of 12 films in the running for a slot in the Best Foreign Language Film category of Oscars 2019 which is set for next February.
No Turkish film has ever made it to the top five slots nominated for an Oscar in the category.
Ceylan’s flick is the fifth title from the director chosen to rep Turkey at Foreign Language Film Oscar race. ‘The Wild Pear Tree’ is a youth passionate about literature who wants to be a writer.
