Downtown Tyler filmfest to host ‘Forouzan’

Iranian short film ‘Forouzan’ is scheduled to be screened at the Downtown Tyler Film Festival in Texas.

Iranian short film ‘Forouzan’ is scheduled to be screened at the Downtown Tyler Film Festival in Texas.

Directed by Abbas Khosravinejad, the film will be Iran's sole representative at the competition section of the festival.

The film tells the story of a young woman whose husband has recently passed away.

She lives with her two young children in a village, and protects a herd of sheep against the attack of thieves at night.

‘Forouzan’ has so far gone on screen at a number of international film events, including the March 2018 edition of the Pickurflick Indie Film Festival in India, the 2018 High Peak Independent Film Festival in the UK, the 2018 Queen City Cinephiles in the US, the 3rd Inca Imperial International Film Festival in Peru, the 21st FRESCO International Film Festival in Armenia, and the 5th Los Angeles Diversity Film Festival in the US.

The film that has received Best Short Film Award from the 1st Astoria Film Festival and an honorable mention from Independent Shorts Awards in the US, is also set to go on screen at the 1st Melbourne City Independent Film Awards in Australia.

Downtown Tyler Film Festival is a celebration of storytelling through film in East Texas. The event accepts and shows short films from all around the world.

The Young Filmmakers night showcases short films produced entirely by filmmakers under the age of 18.

The eighth edition of the festival is slated for October 11-14, 2018.
