Iran ‘Bystander’ wins award at Bangladesh filmfest

Global Youth Film Festival Rangpur in Bangladesh has granted award to Iranian short animation ‘Bystander’.

Iranian short animation ‘Bystander’ secures award at Global Youth Film Festival in Rangpur, Bangladesh.

The second edition of Global Youth fest handed the jury top award to ‘Bystander’ by Sheyda Kashi from Iran.

Young filmmakers under 30 from 101 countries submitted 1270 films to the Rangpur film festival, among which 67 films were selected for the competition section with Iran claiming the top award.

The 8-minute animation narrates the story of an elderly man who is indifferent to the revolutionary people in his country. Looking upon his past, he was an active participant in another revolution during his youth.

The flick previously won several awards from world festivals, including Grand Prix Award from Open Air Short Film Festival in Belarus, Best Short Animation award at the 3rd Cinemaway Film Festival in Ukraine, 8th ‘Picture This’ film festival in Canada, Int'l Festival of Cinema and Television Taganay muses in Russia, and Best Animation award at the 2018 Int'l Youth Film Festival "Light of the World" in Russia.

Global Youth Film Festival Rangpur (GYFFR) is an annual, competitive, international event dedicated to showing the best in culturally diverse, authentic programming for children and youth.

The Global Youth Film Festival Rangpur is a festival of some of the world's best youth-made short films.

This year's edition of the festival was held September 27-29, 2018 in Rangpur city, Bangladesh.
